Mary & Dick
In 1972, Dick and Mary’s friend’s father needed blood. This prompted both Dick and Mary to start donating. At the time, they didn’t realize that blood donations were needed. After moving to Florida in 1985, they continued their life-saving blood donations at Winter Haven Hospital’s Community Blood Center. Both Dick and Mary praise the Community Blood Center’s “super caring” staff. Dick donates platelets, and Mary donated red blood cells until January of 2016, when she was diagnosed with NK/T-cell lymphoma.
