The Winter Haven Hospital Community Blood Center is currently offering the COVID-19 antibody test for all blood donors who consent for testing. The COVID-19 antibody test looks to see whether you may have been exposed to COVID-19 previously and have responded to the infection by making antibodies. A positive test does not mean that there is an active COVID-19 infection and a negative test does not mean that you have never been exposed. The COVID-19 antibody test is not used for diagnostic purposes.
Donors should be healthy at the time of donation and must meet all donor criteria. Donors will be sent their results by a letter in the mail within 7-10 business days after their donation regardless if they tested positive or negative for the antibody.
